Ok this may not just be to do with SHS but it does happen with SHS and I'd love to get some feedback guys.

What happens is that SHS starts up normally with the screen to enter your registration details, but the window simply disappears after a few seconds. This also happens to some other program actually. But before you simply say "oh it's something on your pc and nothing to do with SHS"...please could you think about it and see what it could be?

I have installed that .net framework 4 version. I also did a virus check, which found some infected files and I cleared that up. And I installed another program a few days ago that required an install of XULrunner10. I have of course no idea what that is ;-) but thought I'd mention it.

And today, I tried a new version of another program, and the same happened: opening and crashing.

Has anyone seen this or could share some insights on this?

Thanks very much!

Jan :-)

HI Jan

Thanks for the note

I really don't know what to say as it is clear your computer has some issues. So here is my suggestion just to be sure.

If you have another computer then please test the software on the other computer. This way we will be able to determine if the computer needs fixing or the software isn't compatible.

If you dont have another computer, then it does sound like your computer has issues - it could be issues with your registry which isnt something I would suggest I can help you with.

The only way I know that you could get your computer back to a good condition without having to do a re-install would be to obtain help from forums such as bleepingcomputer or techsupportforum

I feel you will need to run a anti spyware, anti virus and maybe even combofix depending on how your computer has been effected

thanks

What do you mean by "combofix" ?

I'll try it on my vista laptop.

Cheers

Ahh - Its a tool that helps you fix many reg and other issues - its a last resort tool I believe - ive had to use it twice - but I took free advise from bleepingcomputers

the issue was that they can take upto 7 days to get to your thread and start helping -

I believe you can get certain viruses/trojans that hijack your computer and despite doing a reformat and reinstall they still exist - Sites like bleepingcomputer are excellent but you do need to allow time to receive help

thanks
